Well, I have nothing exciting to report really. It's dead week, which means I should be studying for finals but I'm not. I'm waiting for class to start, mom, so don't get mad.

I can't believe I am down to my last 2 weeks of college. In fact, I only have two classes left in my college career. And two tests, but I'd rather not think about that right now. I will have taken 20 sets of finals by the time I graduate next Friday. Gross. At least they are over! Unless I decide to go back to school, which right now is not happening.

I got to go home this past weekend to hang out with my family and have a final meeting with our reception venue (which I am obsessed with. Thank you for finding it mom). It was so fun to be with the fam. My mom now has 3 dresses for the wedding. We are thinking she might just keep all 3 and change into them throughout the night ;) We also made cinnamon rolls, which are awesome. I have been eating them for breakfast but now I'm out of frosting, which is the best part. Not sure what I am going to do with the ones I have left.

The invitations for the wedding are finally out! What a relief. I have already gotten some RSVPs in too :) It is sneaking up here very quickly and let's face it, I still have a lot to do. Like finish my shoes for example. Still. I think I have decided to do them differently, but stay tuned for that. Not like anyone really cares what they look like but me, but still I like to complain about them.

I have a long time until class starts so here is a list of things I did in college that I didn't think I would do/were fun/scary/things you can't do when you're not in college:

1. Joined a sorority
2. Got into a serious relationship
3. Slept on the floor for an entire semester
4. Drove (got driven) to New York City & got to feed a giraffe
5. Participated in greek week (& was a co-chair & won first place)
6. Went to a Spice Girls concert
7. Experienced VEISHEA
8. Joined a committee for the Fashion Show
9. Got to be a Rho Gamma
10. Got engaged
11. Went to Italy
12. Lived in California
13. Made a lot of friends
14. Tried a billion new kinds of food
15. Experienced FAC
16. Played broomball

This is going to be a running list for the next 2 weeks I think, since I obviously did a lot more than that. Or at least I'd like to think that I did.

Okay bye.

Spring Break

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Finally, it's break time! I have been patiently waiting for this since about the end of Christmas break :)

Apart from me now having less than 100 days and (very slightly) less than 3 months until the wedding, my life is pretty great right now! I am still on the hunt for a job, but I really want to know where Kam will be going to grad school before I get too excited about anything. Hopefully we will know soon.

As for break, I will be spending part of next week in New Orleans with Kam and his parents. I've never been there before, so I'm excited! I am also excited because this is the first (and last) time I will be doing anything for spring break. Kam was very sweet and said he wanted to take me somewhere since I'd never gone anywhere for spring break before, and this is our last one. His parents decided randomly that they wanted to go somewhere too, so we are combining and all going together. I think it will be fun!

This weekend I got so much done. I am really relieved by that, because I was starting to get really stressed out by all the wedding stuff. It's hard to plan a wedding that is taking place 2 hours from where I live most of the time. Anyways, we met with the reception venue and decided on food! Huge weight off my shoulders. It turned out so wonderfully too, because we hadn't found an exact option from the menu that they gave us that we were in love with. Our coordinator said it was no problem, and literally let me pick exactly what we wanted. Also, we will have a lemonade fountain. That's probably the part I am most excited about :) We also met with the company that is decorating the reception. It's going to be sparkly and amazing. I seriously cannot wait to see everything!

Today we went shopping with my aunt and 2 cousins. I was banking on finding a dress for my bachelorette party, but I didn't. It's getting really frustrating, but I am just hoping that the perfect one is waiting for me somewhere! On the bright side, I did find the perfect shoes to wear with my rehearsal dinner dress. (Sorry to go in to detail on all the clothing...I am a fashion major after all) Let me re-phrase that. I could not find the perfect shoes anywhere. Given the fact that Kam is about a fourth of an inch taller than I am, I really hate wearing heels around him. I wanted silver glittery shoes, but all I could find were some seriously tall heels. Apparently no one makes silver flats with glitter. So, in true Emily nature, I made my own. And they turned out awesome. I am currently doing the same thing to a pair of old sunglasses because I love how my shoes turned out so much! I also love glitter, so I am unnaturally excited about this.
These are what my shoes looked like before I got my hands on them. This is literally the same pair-they started out black and everything!

And these are my shoes now! I am in love with them. Considering wearing them to bed...kidding! But I am proud of myself :)

March!

Wednesday, March 2, 2011
Whoa baby, I can't believe it's March already! It seems like January and February flew right by.

The finger crossing continues, with grad schools and job apps and wedding things. I ended up getting the part time job I was hoping for, only to receive an email today that they have eliminated the position I would be working in. Soo that was less than awesome. Oh well I guess!

Sorority formal is this Saturday. I am really excited :) It's the last one though, sad! And weird. All of the senior girls are coming though, which is amazing. We almost never get to hang out all together, so I am really looking forward to it! I also love wearing dresses, so this is the perfect opportunity.

Speaking of dresses, I cannot find a dress for my bachelorette party! I know it's not until May, but I get nervous/anxious (weird, me? never). I also still can't find shoes to go with my rehearsal dinner dress. It's hard to be a fashion major haha. I need to do some major goal setting here this week, so that I have an actual timeline of when I need to do these things. After all, the wedding is 100 days from today! I feel like when I talk to people, all they hear me say is "blah blah blah wedding blah"...hope that's not the case. I sure feel like it though.

I'm in the mood to cook. It's not going to happen, but I just thought I'd record the fact that I actually feel like it.

Ok that's all.

It's only tuesday?

Tuesday, February 22, 2011
As you might be able to tell by the title of this, I am definitely ready for the weekend already. And it's only tuesday. Sounds like I am in for a long next few days. This weekend I am going home on saturday for some birthdays! I haven't hung out with my at home friends for a long time. Hope it's fun!

In my last post, I complained about the weather. But then it got really nice! (like 60 degrees nice) I didn't even wear a coat to class at the end of last week! Unfortunately, it's back to 30 ish degrees now. BUT the groundhog did say we are having an early spring, so I am crossing my fingers that it comes...early.

I have been crossing my fingers for a lot lately. For K to get into the grad schools he wants, for me to find a job, for my (and my mom's probably) sanity regarding wedding planning, for my sweet part time job that I should be finding out about in the next couple days, for the weather, etc etc. Guess I just have a lot to hope & pray for! I can't believe it's already almost the end of February.

I haven't felt like writing lately, so hopefully that will change. xoxo e

Oh February, I wish you brought warm weather and sunshine with you. I am tired of the snow and cold. I know, I know-I live in Iowa, I should be used to it, blah blah blah. That doesn't mean I like it.

So far, the superbowl commercials are sucking. I don't like either team, but I'm watching it anyways. Sort of wishing I was at home eating good food with my fam. Next weekend though :)

I have been working a lot-ish lately. Best conversation starter ever yesterday:
Guy: "I bought a diamond ring & diamond necklace for two different people yesterday. I broke up with one of them, so can I bring it back?"
Whaaat? Do people really date two different people at one time? Well I know they do, but really? Apparently he also had one of his lady friends WITH HIM when he bought both things. You have got to be kidding me! People are weird, end of story. At least I got a laugh out of it?

I was sick this past week with a gross cold (thank you, best friend). I feel soo guilty because I didn't work out on wednesday or friday since I couldn't really breathe. Definitely looking forward to tomorrow morning to get back on the right track. K's birthday is a week from tomorrow also-going to be 22! Which is weird. I was talking yesterday about being 10. That was almost 12 years ago, what the heck. Also contemplating getting another job. There is a Buffalo Wild Wings opening here soon, and I would love to have more money to get wedding stuff. But do I waste my last semester of college working? Or have fun but be poor? Can't decide.

Going to update my wedding website so that I don't get a phone call from my mom & Debbie harassing me about it :)

I can't decide if I think time is going very slowly or very fast. First semester definitely flew by. I can't believe I have 4 months left of college and 5 months left until I get married. I keep freaking myself out thinking about it! Not that I'm not excited, but I've spent the last 3.5 years living with roughly 60 of my closest friends. I have done basically everything with them-laughed, cried, screamed, danced-you name it. So it's going to be weird to live with a guy. Again, don't get me wrong, I'm excited. It's just weird to think about.

Rant of the day-Ugg boots. I can't count the number of times that I have seen a facebook status, article in the Daily, or other random thing dissing Uggs. I will give the haters this-they're not that cute BUT these people have clearly never put their foot in one and walked across campus. They're comfortable and warm and make my journey to class a little less painful. Anyways-people can just keep hating because the boots are warm and comfy and I'd rather be both of those than freezing but cute.

Erin & I are mid-bachelorette party conversation and I am SO EXCITED. I'm trying to find a cute dress.
Also excited for 145 days from now, when I am laying on the beach in Jamaica instead of ice skating to class. So much to look forward too.

I leave you with a picture of my cake topper that took me roughly 100000 hours to finish.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the cold? I can't wait until we have weather above 50 degrees again. I am just thinking about the walk back to my apartment that I'll be taking at 6:30...brr.

This week has been really weird. I am not really adjusted to my new schedule, so I keep feeling like I'm missing something like a class or work. I can't say that I hate it though :) Right now I am sitting in good old LeBaron Hall, waiting for my next class to start (not for another 52 minutes). I am already caught up on my homework for the week too!

My thought of the day today is about the rec center. I have been working out routinely since coming back to Ames, and I'm really proud of myself! Santa brought me some awesome new tennies (thanks SantaMom!), and it makes me much more motivated for some reason. Since school started on monday, the rec has been reaaaaally busy. Everyone is trying to squeeze in their new year's resolution, so there's like twice as many people there than normal. It's a little bit annoying, but good for all those people who are getting their butts to the gym (even if the only do go for a week or 2). I am definitely not the patron saint of working out, but I am pretty sure that the chaos will die down in the next week or two, because people will give up. What irritates me though, is the people who are constantly making fun of all the new people at the rec. Maybe it irritates me cause I'm new-ish (although it wasn't a new years resolution-more of a wedding one), and maybe it's a little bit because they're just being mean for no reason. Yes, rec regulars, I get that you want to be able to spend 2 hours on the elliptical and that you can't with all the extra people, but making fun of them is not going to make them disappear.

Well there's my rant for the day. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of those on here, haha. I can't tell my roommates because one doesn't go to the rec often (although she did say she wants to come with me! just forgot her tennis shoes) and one is a rec regular, so she is hating it. And K will look at me like I am a freak.

On a side note, I really like referring to people by their first initial because it makes me feel like I am on gossip girl, haha.
